Scrapbook Malfunction

Permalink 2 users found helpful
Hi guys,

I have a global scrap book called Global and the standard admins scrapbook, i've been using the global to update stuff across the site which works great.

However a strange this has occured.. when i copy stuff into the admin scrapbook and paste it into another block it disappears when i publish my edits. This is behaviour associated with the aliasing used for a global scrapbook, but this appears to be occuring when copying to the standard admin scrapbook.. Anyone experienced this or know how to fix it?

Thanks

I saw that briefly yesterday too... Had to move on to something else, but it did seem odd...

It's a weird one, i'd really like to sort this out as i need the cpopy functionalty back.

Is there a way to create a new scrapbook that isn't global? (so like a new admin or user scrapbook).

not that I'm aware of, unless you can figure out which file it is in the database and change it from public (shared) to private.

I don't know if I'd recommend that tho...

Hmm yeah that sounds a bit dodgy, this looks like a bit of a bug then! Wonder if there will be a fix.

Can anyone Help on this it's really hindering the user friendliness of CONRETE5

UPDATE: Creating a new scrapbook and entering copying and pasting seems to work.. however the name of the scrapbook seems to fail if it uses Capital Letters in the name!!

Im not sure I really follow yet...

I know that with personal scrapbooks if you try to paste the same block to the same page more than once it will look like its been placed and then not show up when exiting edit mode. This is annoying, but not really a bug, its because of the way we alias the block ID it can only show up once on the page.. techno-mumbo jumbo that isn't important here... but yeah I agree its annoying..

is THAT possibly what's going on? You're pasting the same block more than once to the page?

I'm not 100% sure if global scrapbooks behave the same way, I'd have to test it..

There's also a possibility that theres something specific to your theme or install that is just causing some qurikyness.

If you want to make a bug report, you can do that by going to the developer tab up top. You'll need to provide a good deal more detail than in is this thread, we need a clear reproducible path in order to change something,...

Ok,

Can you clarify how I would create a block that a user can paste and then edit, as this is ideally what i'm after.

I use jquery and its setup in a manner where some blocks require certain css parameters, i'd like to allow the user to paste the block in from a scrapbook and then edit the content.

Seems like this post got forgotten, so say i have a block i created with a specific setup and layout, i want to have a copy of that block so i can simple paste it in and make the small edits to the content, how can i do this?

As currently copying and pasting from a personal scrapbook results in the block not appearing after being published.

Thanks

I agree, I just was scratching my head about this thinking it was something wrong with my custom block I was working on:)

To be able to use a pre-created block stored in the scrapbook for creating repeatable content sections. Which isn't what the scrapbook was designed for specifically... hence this weird bug when someone assumes too much and tries using the scrapbook as a sort of block templater, adding multiple versions of the same scrapbook block... then you have a quick way to layout a page and just change the pre-existing content...

UPDATED: I spoke too soon, apparently concrete5 does have the ability to do this. After testing a few different blocks I must be experiencing some weird bug or something...

same package / 2 different sites
-1st site: block disappears from page when placed from scrapbook more than once.
-2nd site: block does NOT disappear from page when placed from scrapbook more than once.

What could it be I wonder?

Answer: A single content "area" can only contain a single copy of a scrapbook block so you can have multiple copies of a particular scrapbook block on a page they just have to be in different content areas. I noticed this when I was using custom layouts in the page and was able to save multiple copies of the same scrapbook block on the page by placing each copy in a different layout area.
