Search by product customer choice

Hi,

I want to use the ecommerce add-on to create an online shop where customers can search products by a few customer choices, i.e.

Colour
Type (plastic, metal etc)
Finish (Smooth, textured, grain)

How can I easily create dropdown option boxes (select boxes) for each of these and list for example all "red" products?

I thought you could already set that sort of search up using the standard product search block.

That's good news if you can, I have built the odd site with this add-on but not using this type of search so I guess you may well be right...
