Setting up composer for different categories

Permalink
Is it possible to setup the Composer as a blog for different categories?

Step-by-step how would I do this?

Also I am having an issue putting the Date Navigation block on my homepage. When I try to navigate to under the Blog page, I don't get a dialog window but a page that lists

Flat View
Search
that all appear as links but don't link to anywhere.

When I just have the block input pointed to any page I get this:

{"aID":"14","arHandle":"Sidebar","cID":"1","error":false,"bID":"1377"}

Any ideas please?

I believe the date block has been broken for some time now. I recall seeing this before and just have not used it since.

As far as your blog categories the simplest way in my mind is to create a page type for each category and then set them up for composer.

EDIT: For instance if you want to use the left_sidebar page type as your blog page type, you would look in your theme for left_sidebar.php and copy it to file names like blog_category_one.php, blog_category_two.php.

Next visit your dashboard and go to "page types". Click to add a page type. Name them something like "Blog Category One" and the handle should look like the filenames: "blog_category_one".

Save your page type and setup the defaults. When you're ready visit the "page types" page again and click "composer" for the page type and set up composer !!

What version of c5 are you using Date Nav on? I'm testing this on 5.6.2.1 and can't replicate it...
