What block(s) should I use to do this?

My client has different documents: some PDF and some html text.

What I would like would be to have a list of topics/docs in the left column and when a topic is clicked, it would display in the large right area. In this forum I saw a reference to list-files-from-set which would be a good way, maybe, to list the files, but I am not sure how to display them.

Suggestions welcomed...

You could just have a page type for each document with a page-list block in the left hand column.
To view PDFs in the right column, there are a number or add-ons available in the marketplace that allow you to view pdfs in the browser.
