Shouldn't changes in a Page Type Defaults be applied to all pages using that Page Type

I have a site that consists of a standard Theme consisting of the default layout of the site with some HTML and CSS. All pages on the site is basically the same, with just some minor changes in content and some pages have a some specific default images etc. So it is pretty straight forward. I have now been able to install Concrete5 and added my Theme and one Page Type.
Now my questions starts to arise. First, I added three pages with my Page Type. Then I added some texts in the blocks I have set as Default. But, then I realized I wanted to add an extra Block in my Page Type. So I went to the Dashboard and selected my Page Type and clicked on Defaults. I added the extra block and saved. But the extra block didn't show on my pages.
So, what am I doing wrong? Or shouldn't a change in a Page Type be applied to all pages using that type?

And another question. Is it possible to make a copy of an existing Page Type? I have three different Page Types which looks pretty much the same except for some different Blocks.
