Site becoming huge, remove stored client emails

Hi
a 10 page site for a client is reaching close to 500mb in size.
Please see attached jpg of disk space usage
the public html is using 198mb of space (I have optimised images, removed previous updates) Is this a normal size for a concrete 5 website
I have checked the mail folder which is also large, and old emails are being stored adding to the usage.
Could someone help a humble beginner with the settings to ensure that these emails don't keep building up. Should I tell the client to use a different server? I am not sure how to do this.
