Site incredibly slow
Permalink
Hey folks, I've been trying various tactics and investigating various posts to try to work with my very slow C5 site but besides being overwhelming I think I have several factors at work against me here. So I am hoping the hive mind can add some insight and help me out (at least with where to start). It's much appreciated.
Here is my site:http://www.altaprojects.net/
I've been using C5 for quite awhile now and have had some slowness in the past but it's getting out of control now, often showing the timeout error (Maximum execution time of 30 seconds exceeded).
I use domain mapper and have several sites, many of which use different themes, so the sheer size of the site could be part of it though I'm not sure how to remedy that if it is. Their are mostly small, a few pages a piece, which is part of our initial reason for wanting to keep them all together.
We don't use a "budget" hosting account, we have a VPS on Dreamhost and I have upped our RAM several times over the last couple weeks. I don't mind increasing this but each jump hasn't done too much to help. Also, our control panel shows a LOT of bandwidth usage. It seems excessive for our small sites but I'm not exactly sure what's happening here.
I'm sure I'm forgetting some other pertinent information so just let me know what else would help in troubleshooting. I'm much more of a Designer/Developer than Systems Admin but I've had to be a little of that too. So in that vein I can probably understand systems instructions you send but might need a little translation. Thanks!

Ah, so this is a release that's in development I take it? I'm on 5.6.0.2 and it doesn't list an available updates to install. On one hand I'm hesitant to install a Beta release but seeing as it's been running so poorly it's probably worth trying.
Ok, time to backup and give it a shot!

It seems concrete5 5.6.1.1 has just been released (you should be able to upgrade through the dashboard)

I'm no expert, but I can understand how frustrating it is when your site is slow... First thing I would recommend is upgrading to concrete5 5.6.1.
