Site is extremely slow after move to root of server...

So I had a development environment at url.com/c5/ and I recently followed a guide on here to move it to the root. I changed the site config file and the database location never changed so it should be fine.

So now I can't decide whether I think this is c5's fault or the hosting provider (GoDaddy - I'm on hold now) but my clients are complaining the site loads very slowly. When I use it sometimes switching pages takes forever to load, sometimes it won't load at all and sometimes it runs perfectly smoothly. I've also received db errors but usually when it's taken a long time to load, and they disappear and don't impede doing anything after I reload the page.

Any ideas? I've re-enabled the cache after the move, just enabled pretty urls.... is there anything else I can do or something I overlooked? Keep in mind, the site is working, but ridiculously slowly after the move. Any help would be much appreciated.

Just got off the phone with GoDaddy... seems their amazing shared hosting is to blame, with the sharing of limited server resources and other greedy clients. We'll see how quickly it gets resolved, they couldn't give me an ETA. Oh how I love GoDaddy.

Hey jhalchak,
Some of my clients are on GD shared hosting. You can request (and keep requesting) they move your database to another server... its free but no guarantee to show improvement. A better solution is using the Miser download (search the forum) or something similar that improves/streamlines requests to the database. We've seen dramatic improvements doing this.
The new C5 version 5.4.2 may address some of these issues but I haven't tested it on GD yet.
