Site Statistics

I built a website for a client and installed google analytics also on the site. What is puzzling me is that the site statistics graph in the Concrete5 dashboard is reporting different numbers than analytics. For instance, one day Google analytics will report 0 visits to the site but the Statistics box in the dashboard is stating 22 visits.

I work frequently with Google Analytics and trust that I have the code on correctly.

Has anybody else seen these inaccuracies? What am I to make of it?

Thanks for any help.

Blocked cookies comes to mind first. GA can only track what it has the ability to record.
Also, it is my understanding that even when recorded, GA should accurately count unique visitors while site stats could possibly record a single visitor as multiple page hits.
I have not found a 100% accurate report yet, so we rely on trends to help analyze whats going on.

Thank you for responding.

I understand that page views are counted on Concrete 5 and site visits are counted on GA but what's strange is when GA says there were 0 visitors and concrete5 has 22 page views.

This is frustrating to try and explain to the client as they have access to both. Which one do I say is accurate? My gut tells me GA is.

Frustrating, isn't it?
There is a LOT about this, even in the Google Analytic Forums. It's a pretty good tool to track visitor trends but not infallible. Tracking cookies can be defeated.
That said, it's safe to assume the majority of your visitor traffic is currently being tracked by GA. and that the Concrete5 site stats are consistently counting traffic based on page loads rather that visitor. Check out http://support.google.com/analytics/answer/2731565?hl=en... and other articles from Google for a little more background.
Hopefully someone else on the forum has a more "Concrete" answer for you :)

I think you'll find this article interesting as it posts how GA tracking is defeated ( or at least not counted ) http://stackoverflow.com/questions/10084732/will-google-analytics-t...
