Slideshow not always showing

New to Concrete5 but fairly familiar with php forums.
Problem- When I log out, close browser, and then come back to the site, slideshow is not showing.
Log in, and have to edit page> to get the slideshow showing again, which it does just fine while I'm on.
But then if I log out, and then refresh the page it stops showing anything, just a thin empty space.
Anyone just dropping by the site will not see the slideshow playing.
I've cleared cache, both site, and browser, checked permissions, but am at a loss.
Any ideas?

I am having exactly the same problem. It happens with the built in Concrete5 slideshow and all the slide show add-ons that I can find.
