Slideshow linked images

Why is it that all images used in the slideshow block are hyperlinked to their image file automatically? Shouldn't this happen only if a user specifies the links in the url while adding/editing?
Is this a bug or what?

Btw, this happens only when using a fileset. Tested on latest svn (r1375)

How do we go about requesting a "link option" for filesets as well? I'm programatically reference a slideshow in a theme and I can't don't know how to do that with with a "CUSTOM" type...
