Some pages not displaying content in mobile

Hello all,

I am currently working on a mobile version of our site (apexxgroup.com). We are using a different theme for our mobile site than we are from our desktop site. The problem that I'm running across is there are some pages that don't display any content on the mobile site but they show just fine on the desktop site. I'm at a loss as to how this is happening because we are just using a different theme for mobile, we are not using a sub directory or server instance.

Would anyone have a clue as to what might be happening?

Thanks

Which theme are you using for the mobile site? Have you tried it on multiple different devices and browsers?

Most likely what is happening is that the theme that is being used for the mobile devices is not completely compatable. Or it could be that the device(s) that you have tested it on do not have the correct software installed (Adobe Flash Player, Java, etc). Or maybe the software installed doesn't support the content on your site.

Try to test on as many devices as you can, check that those devices are fully up to date on their flash, java, etc. If that doesn't do the trick, it is most likely the theme you chose.

We are using the Bold and Beautiful theme.

I have tried it on my Android phone using both Chrome and the built in web browser. My boss has tried it on his iPhone using Safari and we both are getting the same results.

It is just so weird. I should clarify a bit too, most pages show the content just fine, it is just a few that don't show anything and that is where I'm confused.

Thanks for the response by the way!

Ok that sounds like a content issue. Is there a live version I can take a look at?

Thank you for looking into this!

Yes it is at apexxgroup.com (no www before hand, that is something I will need to fix later)

All the content on the desktop version is all good, just when we get to mobile, especially all the stuff in the contact us section, doesn't seem to want to show up. The mobile site is still a work in progress so it isn't 100% complete.

Thanks again!

No problem.

Is it the contact form that is not showing up on the mobile devices? If so, then the devices you are testing on do not contain java or do not have a version of java that supports the functionality that you are using in that form.

How did you create that form? I would recommend trying the Form block that comes with C5. It creates a form that doesn't use Java, only HTML. It would probably work on mobile devices.

I had the same thought as you, that it was the forms. I don't think that is the cause however. I am using the forms from Wufoo, which looks like it does it all in Javascript. I went and checked a site on my phone that we did for a client that used the Wufoo forms and those showed up.

I even went so far as to make a new page and just simply have "Hello World" on the page and not even that showed up...

Is there a chance that you could upload a screenshot or picture of how it appears on the mobile device. I tried it on a PalmOS device and it showed up fine.

Where you viewing if with a tablet or a phone? I have it coded so that tablets will go to the desktop site while phones will go to the mobile site.

Here is what it looks like:

It was on a phone. Palm Pre2. I am sure that the mobile site must have it's own URL. Do you know what that is?

That is the mobile site, apexxgroup.com (no www before hand). It uses the theme switcher that is built in to switch themes if users are running mobile.

I have to admit that I am running out of ideas for this. The only thing I can think of is that the theme that it points mobile devices to use, is the problem. Could you try a different theme for mobile and see if that makes a difference?

I just tried switching themes to one of the stock ones that come with Concrete5 and I got the same result. I guess I will just have to manually code those pages for the mobile, which I can do but I just don't like the thought of have to do double work if something gets changed. Oh well I guess.

You could try getting the attention of someone who knows what they are doing a little more than me, like say JohntheFish.

If you are going the separate content route then try making your content blocks into stacks so you can reuse them on both the full and mobile versions of your site. That way your content can be edited in one place and update both locations. :D

Oh and if you are looking for automatic mobile (or mobile and tablet) redirection then check out Mobile Home on the concrete5 Marketplacehttp://www.concrete5.org/marketplace/addons/mobile-home/...

Cheers!
