steps to being mobile ready - 5.6v

Hi,
I'm a bit of a "noob" when it comes to most website stuff, so forgive the rather silly question. But I'm reading Google is about to place more value on the "mobile friendly" nature of sites in ranking them - whiilst I have great confidence C5 have a highly responsive technology "out of the box" - are there any 3/4 critical steps, I myself should be taking now, to make certain my site is OK for this?
