Strange one, can't select a block, it stays live in Edit Mode

Hi, I hope someone can help me here.

One of the areas on my page is suddenly behaving strangely. When I put the page into Edit Mode I can click on all other editable areas on the page and the Edit pop-up appears. When I click on a particular area and select the "Add to" bit to add a block, nothing happens. There is a menu within that area and it remains active even in Edit This Page mode so when I click anywhere on it it takes me to another page.

I've not been messing about with any divs in that area and I've cleared the cache plenty of times with no improvement. This has me really stumped, any help gratefully received.

Thanks.

I'm also now having some problems with some blocks where once I've updated and saved changes, the other blocks on the page are no longer editable. I then have to Publish My Edits and then reselect Edit This Page.

If anyone can give me a clue as to what's going wrong here I would be very grateful as I'm starting to get a bit worried that the wheels are going to fall off the site.

Thanks.

When you say you've made changes and saved them. What are the changes?

I know that if you 'Move' a block, you can't edit other blocks on the page unless you exit and re-enter into edit mode.

I would try clicking on the very edge of the block.

Once you manage to click on it (without it taking you to another page); the first thing to do is select 'Design' and adjust the spacing. Give it a couple of pixels of padding to make it easier to select it in the future.

Thanks wagdi but that's not working. I've zoomed right in and can select the block right next to it which bring up the popup for that block. When I move one pixel to the left to select the navigation block I'm having trouble with, it treats it like a live block and takes me to the live link page.

Clicking on the "Add To Left Menu" link to try to add an additional block to that column is impossible.

Thanks again.

I can have a look for you if you want (I can't make any promises but I can try.)

Send me a PM with login details. If you don't feel comfortable sending me your login details, you can create a new user account and delete it afterwards.

I'm guessing you want that block to remain there? Otherwise, you could try rolling back to previous version of the page.

It turned out to be a z-index issue on the div that was holding the menu.

Worth bearing in mind as I only added it to get round IE7 putting text over the menu drop downs.

Thanks to Wagdi for his generous help.
