"Subscribe to RSS feed" icon/ url not working!
Hi everyone
I have manually installed the standard blog functionality that comes with Concrete5. The RSS link at the bottom which says "Subscribe to RSS feed" is not working. When clicked, it goes to a page with the error message:
This XML file does not appear to have any style information associated with it. The document tree is shown below.
And there is a bunch of HTML showing my blog content.
Here is my blog:

Here is the error message page:

Thanks for your help as I am really stuck here. Have a great week ahead!

Thanks, mhawke
But your solution does not solve my issue. My issue is that my readers can't subscribe to my RSS feed by clicking on the "Subscribe to my RSS feed" button on my blog page.
I have no issues in displaying a RSS feed on a separate page.
How can I enable the subscription button to work properly?
Thanks!!

Hi Julia
As Mhawke pointed out your rss feed button is acctually working as it should, some web browsers have built in support for RSS otheres dont, so it will depend on what browser your subscribers are using. have you considered using feedburner? might give you closer to what you want.

I tested using Firefox, IE and Chrome. Same problem: When I click on to the Subscribe to my RSS feed button, it opens a new window with the error message:
This XML file does not appear to have any style information associated with it. The document tree is shown below.
I have no issues displaying my own RSS feed on my own website. I have issue with allowing readers to subscribe to my feed off the RSS button on my blog page. How can I tweak the link associated with that RSS button on my blog page?
Thanks I hope I am not being daft!

People who subscribe to RSS feeds know what to do with your 'Subscribe to RSS' link. I don't think you need to worry about it.
Click on the XML link on the RSS feed page for The Weather Channel and you will see it gives you the same output. This output is common to all RSS Feed links.

And you can read more about RSS Feeds here on the BBC Site.

Julia,
I am having the exact same problem and error message when an outside user clicks on my RSS Feed button. I am not sure how to fix this link, and wasn't able to by following this discussion.
Did you have any luck?

I doubt there is anything wrong with the link. In order to subscribe to an RSS feed, people either:
1) have a plugin in their browser which open these links properly for them
OR
2) They have learned to right-click on the link and choose 'Copy link address' and paste this address into their RSS reader.

Have you had any complaints from real RSS users?

Thanks for the quick response! I'm just setting up the blog now, and was testing the components.
Basically, I wanted to find a way for people to know when I added a new blog post.
I understand there is NOT a subscription option in Simple Blog as there is with ProBlog.
Any other suggestions?

If you are using the regular Page List block to display your Blog pages, then there is a "Provide RSS Feed" option in the Page List configuration.
We just figured out the issue was mostly with Firefox. We did not get this error with IE.
But, under Firefox, if we went to the bookmarks and said... subscribe to this feed, it worked, and is now on the bookmarks tool bar.
Not sure the difference in browsers, but I think we're in the clear now.
Thanks!!

1) Go to your blog page and right-click on the subscription link and choose 'Copy address'.
2) Add an RSS Display block to a page and paste the address you just copied from your blog page.
The page with the RSS Display block should now display your blog RSS feed.
