Superfish not opening external links in a new window

I have waited a long time for C5 5.4.1 so finally, I can open a PDF on my site but in a new window.

Ok, but it doesn't do this if you use Superfish menu like I do on both sites we run!!

Is there a way to get superfish to open any type of link to a file in a new window

Not being able to is a pain as users open the PDF, then close it and their browser closes too!

how are you getting a PDF to show up in superfish as a menu item? Is it an external link created from the sitemap?

Yes, I have created an 'external link' in my sitemap. In my case the website ishttp://www.colincartwright.co.uk... and lets say the link is tohttp://www.colincartwright.co.uk/myfile.pdf... ie the PDF is in the root of my C5 folder.

The link will open the PDF but in a full window, so if a user closes that, the site closes. Pressing the back button takes you back to the site but many people instinctively just close the PDF.

In version 5.4.1 for the first time, when you create an external link, there is a box to check that says 'open in a new window'. I have checked this box when Icreated the link but its obviously not working.

There are other issues with 5.4.1, like no matter how I have tracking statistics (selected or un-selected) I simply can't turn them off. Thats not an issue but this PDF thing is. I am wondering what I am doing wrong.

I have just manually downloaded latest superfish ( or at least the only one I can from my licenses page) and it makes no difference. PDF still not showing in a new window. I will have a look see what could be wrong, but no luck so far.

Thanks for the help though. Much appreciated.

I assume ahving bought it once, I don;t have to buy it a second time to get the new version?

OK, latest one seems to have been downloaded, BUT it still shows up in my dashboard as vwersion 1.1.3. No idea why or what to try next. I can't save to project, it keeps wanting me to buy a new copy and manual dowbnloading and uploading to packages directory doesn't seem to have any effect?

Puzzled now.

It seems only version 1.1.3 is available for me to download, so no wonder I can't make it work. There are notes on the buyable add-on about 1.1.4, but the only version I can download without seemingly paying for it twice!! is version 1.1.3. No wonder I can't make it work. 1.1.4 is the only version that will do what I want, PLEASE tell me I don;t have to buy it again??

OK, tried downloading a second time, this time using Safari instead of Explorer 8. I noticed that this time the zip file was entitled superfish-1.zip, different to the time before only ten mins earlier. Go figure??

NOW when I uploaded , it actually works. Wow. Many, many thanks for all your help. It was after all an issue with an older version of superfish.

Thanks guys for all your prompt help and support. This is EXACTKLY why I use Concretet5, the users are just so helpful any time you have an issue. Your prompt responses keep people going when things don't look so good.

Many thanks you are all amazing. Where would we be without you?
