TC Photo Gallery fade transition

Hi,
I'm trying to edit the tc photo gallery ad-on to try and add a fade transition between the images to make it more elegant. I've tried but can't figure it out any help?
When I add the fade effect to where I think is the appropriate place, the image is changed and THEN the fade effect takes place not before the change is made.
