Theme won't activate after renaming

Hi There,
We run a kind of theme framework on our other CMSs which means that as we get close to go-live, we like to rename it to the site name.
However, when we tried that in c5 the old theme remained activated (but was blanked out) and the new theme won't install.
We did/tried the following:
- Renamed the theme folder
- Updated description.txt
- Updated thumbnail.png
- Cleared the cache
- Logged-out and logged in
- Deleted the theme folder and re-uploaded
Is info stored in the database that needs updating somewhere?
Any help would be much appreciated.

Not sure why, but I had to delete the theme, change the name of the folder again, re-upload - then it activated.
is the site in a subfolder? like site.com/sub/? and if it is is the theme named sub?
Yes - that was it!
My site was in a sub folder called "tandoori" and the theme was called "tandoori"
Changing the theme name fixed the issue - weird.
