Themes Folder Unusable (this is weird)

This is weird...
We upgraded from EasyApache3 to EasyApache4 and enabled OPCencode. Then, all of a sudden... it seems that the /Application/Themes/ folder is unusable.
The problem started when my site spit out a blank page - but I could login to Dashboard. I uploaded the same theme which showed as ready for install with a thumbnail, BUT when I installed it, the list of page templates to activate was empty, then the thumbnail disappeared! It's like no files in that folder can be used.
The only way I could get my site back up was to activate Elemental and copy my theme files into the /Concrete/Themes area (rename the namespace, etc).
