Tips for new site

I'm looking at building a new site for a resort vacation listing company using Concrete5. I previously used Concrete5 for a simple site, which got my hands wet building themes, blocks, adding view templates and the general use of the admin area.

So for this next project I'll still be using some of the core functionality, but I'll be extending that by allowing users to create their own property listings. These listings will have categories, location info, etc. so that other users can then search on them. For the most part a listing is just a page type with some custom fields. Some of the other functionality would include pretty URL's so that if I type "http://vacationrentals.com/properties/skiing" a search would be performed for all property pages with the category "skiing" selected. We'll also need stuff like user submitted FAQ's, though then again these could just be custom form submissions using the form block.

So my main question here is, does anyone have any tips on what I should be using for these various parts. I'm still reading about single pages, blocks and custom applications, though if I could get some tips, which would give me a head start on what exactly I should be looking at that would be GREAT!

sounds like you're on the right track with single pages & a custom page type.. check out this thread:
