Turning Images Into Links

Im having a hard time turning images into URL links. I highlight the image in the edit content screen. I click the link button from the toolbar and enter the URL etc, but when i click update it just refreshed the link page, deletes the URL i typed in and doesn't create the image link. Not quite sure what to do, but most of my links are pictures. Also having a problem changing my background from the white color without messing up my layout.

My site ishttp://www.geekcenterservices.com

Is the image in a content block or image block?
For background, you should be able to change the colour via the dashboard - themes - customize.

It is in a content block. I managed to get one random one to work, but the rest don't. Im not even sure that random one works anymore. I put them in a content box because they are directly under the paragraphs. It would look very weird to insert and image block below that, it would mess up my layout.

In the content block, once selected and open, highlight the image (it will show as blue) then add the link. If it's a link to another page in your site, use "add link to page".
