Two column custom block

I would like to have a custom block that allows the client to add in one column an image using a lightbox addon and in the other column having a wsywig editor to enter text. I have tried Designer Content, which didn't work and also tried to set up the page with two columns with two editable blocks, but for some reason the addon doesn't get come up right that way. Can anyone direct me or help me?
I realize that I am trying to make things harder than they need to be. I can probably get by with getting Lightbox to function for an individual image but I have been working on it for three hours without success. Sometimes its hard to be an unskilled webdesigner!
