Unable to Generate sitemap.xml

Hi C5 community,
First post and I hope a simple one.
I have reviewed all the postings on the this subject but no luck in correcting issue.
From Automated Jobs, Generate sitemap.xml, the task appears never to complete and a sitemap is not generated. I have created a sitemap.xml file with permissions 777. Still no luck and no logs generated that I can find. The other jobs within the default job set for Automated Jobs complete with no issues.

Apache version 2.2.27
PHP version 5.4.29
MySQL version 5.5.36-cll

Roughly how many pages are in your site, and what is the value of MAX_EXECUTION_TIME in Dashboard > System & Settings > Environment > Environment Information
Currently max_execution_time - 30
If you are still in the building process and have your site set to "private" access, the sitemap will not generate when running the job.
If this is the case, set your site to "public" access and try running the job again.

Currently I have two pages and the site is set to public.
