Update add-ons not working

Hi,

I'm using concrete5 v5.7. I want up update an add-on of mine.

Firstly, it seems that 5.7 doesn't have the ability yet to backup your DB. So I've done an "export" of my database via MyPHPAdmin. I've also made a back-up of my entire website by copying and pasting all the files and folders for my site. Hope this is sufficient?

Secondly, when I go to Update Add-ons, I can see a newer version of the add-on I want to update. However, when I click on Download and Install nothing happens. Is this a known issue or am I doing something wrong?

Is there another way to update an add-on that won't break my site? I don't want to uninstall the add-on and then reinstall it as the add-on itself is the foundation of a lot of things on my site so I'm pretty sure it will screw things up if I uninstall it.

Cheers,
Choppie

Hi Choppie,

For your backup, make sure you have all the tables and important files. also note the version of concrete5. This could be important if you want to restore it at a fresh install (same version) at some time.

The update should work. Best to contact the developer directly. If he doesn't respond in some time, come back here and name the add-on.

You should be able to leave a message at the 'Get Help' section of the add-on's marketplace page.

Should work, but doesn't. This does not appear to be a problem tied to the add-on developer. I have multiple add-ons from different providers on several different websites (unique concrete5 installs), and I get this exact behavior when trying to "download and install" updates to any of them. I've tried different versions of Concrete5, and this behavior persists across 5.7.5.6 through 5.7.5.13. I've reported this as a bug in the bug tracker, but it looks like no one is listening there. Tons of bugs reported, no responses...

OK. For those who are having this problem, I found the problem (at least in MY case). My Apache server was compiled with the WRONG configuration file. Several required PHP extensions were missing, including Zip. While I'm not sure exactly how this happened, recompiling with the proper options fixed this problem for all but ONE package (Fruitful). It is interesting to note that NO error messages were being generated (on screen, in Concrete5 log file, Apache log files, or /var/log/messages) that would point one to this problem, even with full debugging turned on in the Dashboard.

Here are the system requirements. Check your Apache/Php config against these. If any are missing or wrong, that's likely your problem.https://documentation.concrete5.org/developers/installation/system-r...
