Update: Flash Embed now includes an XML file property -- much easier to use!
Hey everyone,
I just updated the Flash Embed block, because the old way of linking to XML using Flash variables was too much work for a project I'm working on. The new solution is WAY nicer, so I thought I'd send a 'shout out' since this probably wouldn't be apparent just by browsing the Marketplace.
If a Flash file requires XML, it's super-easy. On the first tab, click to browse for a SWF file, then put in the dimensions you want. On the next tab, click to browse for the XML file you want. The block will add this to your Flash variables automatically, so no copying-and-pasting URLS or anything. Not only that, a cool side-effect for having an XML file picker is that you can click the file, click "Edit" and bring up the online XML editor ... while editing the block! This makes it much more straightforward to edit Flash elements. You edit the block, edit the XML data, and like always, you can use the file manager/sitemap integration (as well as the code highlighting) to update XML pretty easily.
So! This little change has made a world of difference for me. If your Flash content doesn't accept an XML path parameter (it should!), your best bet would be to try and contact the author, since its very easy to do in Flash, and makes things a lot better in Concrete5. However, if that isn't possible, you can still use the base parameter to fix relative URL paths. You can read more about it on the add-on's page, here:

Thanks everyone! Have a great day
