Uploaded Image does not display thumbnail nor show in Image Block
Permalink
I am as new to this process as anyone could be.. I've been asked to be the webmaster for a community organization. I chose C5 after great comments about being user friendly. Up to this point, it's been extremely easy to figure out. Now I've hit a snag. I want to display a few pictures. I've uploaded an image, it's in the File Manager but there's no thumbnail display. I can create an Image Block and Choose the file, but no image is displayed on the web page. The file is there and can be viewed in the Edit function. I must be missing something really simple. Can someone tell me what that might be?
Many thanks for any help!

Thanks for quick response. I just started this project early last week. So download of C5 was then. I don't even know how to find a version number! I'll keep looking for it!
The file is definitely uploaded to File Manager (as are others), just can't see them in web page or create a thumbnail!

My version is 5.5.2.2. I see there is a 5.5. Should I download this one before trying anything else?
See, I can't even type correctly..... my current version is 5.4.2.2.
Version 5.5.1 will be released in a few hours. V5.5.1 will be way more stable than 5.5 (http://www.concrete5.org/about/blog/totally-random-web-show/... )
Upgrade to 5.5.1 did not resolve my display issue. Please, if anyone has any suggestions, I'd love to hear them. Thanks
Strewth, 2 1/2 Mb jpg, you should try optimising it first!
Try uploading small image or file so you know it all works properly.
Look in Dashboard- Systems & Settings- Environment- File Storage Locations.
Cut & paste path into your browser to see if your images are there.
For example: /Users/Home/Sites/newcon/files
Plus look at your Environment Information, see what the max upload is set at
Still would not hurt to optimise images before you upload.

as 55web said this is often caused by an incorrect storage path location or the image being too large(2.5 is pretty big but should be ok)
if your path has been on a different server and moved over make sure this is correct.
One way to check is in file manager select the file and choose properties, this should give you the file location try seeing if you can open in a new tab or and this should work is try to edit the photo in Piknik if the image has been uploaded then you will see in one of those.
If your saw it in Piknik but not the new tab then confirm you file path.
If you saw it in both then check the permissions on your files folder and more specifically the thumbnails folder I use 0775.

Thanks 55webdesign and TheRealSean.
I uploaded a small image as suggested. I can edit in Piknik and can also find it in the file folder on the host server. However, the filepath gets an error 404 Not Found.
I'm building this on BlueHost and it's not yet live (the old site is up and running on another hosting service). Perhaps there's an issue here although that doesn't make any sense to me. Everything else is coming along just fine so I'm going to finish the build, transfer the domain name to this site and see what happens. This is all new territory for me and with it, I have a lot to learn! Thanks for the help.
