URGENT!!! search indexing issue

I have specified a bunch of pages to be 'excluded from search index' however when I search for something the pages are still appearing in the search results?.. is this because I am still signed in?
This site is to go live so any help or experiences of this type of issue would be greatly appreciated

Did you re-run the search index job in the dashboard?
where is that?
Dashboard -> Maintenance
[x] Index Search Engine
Then Run Checked
[x] Index Search Engine
Then Run Checked
How long is this supposed to take? so far it has taken half an hour?! to run hte search indexing...
DoH... don't answer that have now! thanks new feature never noticed!
I find the best way to "hide" pages besides excluding them as you have is to create a "Production" page and set the permissions so this and anything under it is not radable. I place my pages in production there.
