Urgent. Gallery block installation after purchase for 5.3
Permalink
I have just purtchased the gALLERY BLOCK AS THE ONE i HAD INSTALLED FOR 5.2.1 didn't work on the new install of 5.3.
I have since installed the New version in the /packages directory (not clearly stated so origianally placed in blocks) and when I installed it I got an error.
Now on teh pages where the old gallery appears I get the following error and I can not install the new gallery properly.
How do I completely cleanly uninstall any referance to the old gallery block and install the new gallery package?

Panicking slightly as I had the client on the phone...
I had used the free gallery with my previous installation but this stopped working when I upgraded to 5.3
So I purchased the new gallery at $15 (along with what looks like an excellent calendar 'block') anyways couldn't initially install the new blocks from within the dashboard as they didn't show up so downloaded them and initially as usual installed the gallery block into my blocks folder after deleting the old gallery block folder (all through fileZilla FTP). This wouldnt install properly and then discovered the new block aren't blocks but packages and so have to go in the packages folder. put them in there the calednder installed nicely and looks to be a great addition but the gallery will not install and on the pages I have the original gallery in the site:http://www.villacasafontana.com I get this error:
Warning: BlockView::include(/hsphere/local/home/bloksoli/villacasafontana.com/concrete/config/../blocks/gallery/view.php): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /hsphere/local/home/bloksoli/villacasafontana.com/concrete/libraries/block_view.php on line 257 Warning: BlockView::include(): Failed opening '/hsphere/local/home/bloksoli/villacasafontana.com/concrete/config/../blocks/gallery/view.php' for inclusion (include_path='.:/hsphere/shared/apache/libexec/php5ext/php/:/hsphere/local/home/bloksoli/villacasafontana.com/libraries/3rdparty:/hsphere/local/home/bloksoli/villacasafontana.com/concrete/config/../libraries/3rdparty') in /hsphere/local/home/bloksoli/villacasafontana.com/concrete/libraries/block_view.php on line 257
which is to be expected now that there is no gallery block installed.
Now though when I go to install the new gallery block it simply will not show up for install.
I think I somehow need to completely remove any reference to the old gallery block so I can cleanly install the new one however not sure how to do this?

A block is just an entry in BlockTypes...
By looking at your error message, I guess you're right. It is looking for a block instead of a package.
Try removing the entry in blocktypes and install the package again

Where is this BlockTypes you speak of?
use phpMyAdmin or whatever tool you use to access your database.
I think if you installed it the wrong way, there's not way (in the interface) that let's you do this..

Hi I used PHPAdmin to remove the database entry for the image gallery in BlockTypes this has removed hte entry from within the 'Add Functionality' menu however when I now place the new gallery package into the package folder it does not appear for install so I am sill unable ot install it?
Cheers Remo for your help... managed to find a reference to the Gallery inside Packages within my database which was blocking the install!
half a day lost but all the wiser for it!

When packages are installed a record is kept of it in the Packages table. If you remove both the entry from the BlockTypes table and the Packages table you should be able to reinstall the package.
I do not even get the install option after removing the block from the packages folder and then reimporting it back into the packages folder the old 'Image gallery' header is still in my Add Functionality menu without a thumbnail and trhows back this error when trying to be used within a page:
Fatal error: Call to undefined method Controller::getJavaScriptStrings() in /hsphere/local/home/bloksoli/villacasafontana.com/concrete/elements/block_header_add.php on line 21

Are you talking about the free gallery block or the one for $15?
