Use alternative authentication DB for users

Hi,

I wonder if there is a way to let concrete5 users authenticate under a different DB rather that the concrete5 user table, I would like to merge a couple of scripts that require user registration , off course I wish to let users access with one logon (i cant use openid in this time).

any idea?

Does the roadmap include something regarding other authentication methods or bridge for other systems?

I'm after the same thing. I need one of two solutions... either 3rd party auth or an API I can call to determine if they are already authenticated against C5. I'd prefer the former but my project is early stage enough that I can still go either way.
