User login/logout link...how do I do it so that it changes depending on whether person is logged in or out?

So at the bottom of my website (bikepartjewelry.com), there is a link that changes dependent upon whether a person is logged in or logged out of the site. When logged in, there are 2 links; one that says the name of the user logged in and another that says sign out. When signed out, there is a link that says sign in.

I would like to put that up at the top of my website (with different wording), but i don't know how. Suggestions would be great.

I need very specific instructions...I'm not a programmer. :)

It is some code in the footer. You will need to cut that out and paste it where you want it. Its pretty simple to do. Do you know how to ftp to your site files?

Yep, I know how to ftp, but to what file am I adding the code? I just looked at the public html folder and there are tons of folders there.

Attached is a modified theme for you. Unzip and upload to your root :: themes folder. Then in the pages and themes dashboard tab activate your new bikepartjewelry theme and your login stuff will be in your header.

Awesome...thank you. One other question - where do I change the wording (I want to remove the "to edit this site" as my customers will not be editing, just signing in to review past orders and play with their profiles if they want).

Open the header.php inside elements in the theme folder. Its near the top of the page under the <body> tag.

Will do.

Just out of curiosity, I'm getting this error now...any ideas as to whether anything I changed could have caused it?

Here’s what’s going on:
I put a product in my cart, put in billing address, etc, click next, click on “use billing address”, click next and I get this screen:…I can’t go any further.

Yow! I checked the page source and there is no header or footer being called. Try reverting your theme to the default (plain yogurt) and see if it persists. I don't think it will. Might be a bug in the ecommmece 2.0 but I kinda doubt it.

Let me know.
