User Permissions

I am using advanced permissions.

I have created a group that would only have edit permissions on the sites pages, not the back end. When the user logs in it redisplays the login screen. I then changed it so that when anyone logs in, the user should be directed to the home page, this is also not working.

I then made gave one of the users the administrator role and removed all but one permission in sitewide settings > access > other permissions.

When they log in, they get the dashboard with some items not available to them. The redirect at login is not working correctly, and when a user is not an "admin" they are not being redirected to the dashboard nor the home page, they just stay on the login screen.

Anyone have any ideas?

This sounds a little confusing and too fuzzy to answer for you. I do know that I spent some time twiddling around with the permission when I first started and then I got it dialed in. It just takes a little getting used to. Maybe if you can find a consistent error and definite settings that seem impractical then you can respond with that information?

If your user group is fairly small, try setting the page permissions by adding individuals rather than group. If they have access to all the front end pages, you should only have to change the home page and let the child pages inherit the permissions.

Let us know if this works for you ;)
