User-Track Log

I am designing a website for my school's chorus, and I need to make some sort of tracking system. Essentially, we want to be able to assign students to listen to the piece of music, and know that they have... Is there any way, in HTML or whatever, that we can track the accounts that have logged onto the page and listened to the mp3?
I first thought using a survey, but that seems to store answers confidentially. Tracking an IP would mean knowing everyone's home IP, and if they used a school/library computer or their mobile device... Well... It just doesn't sound like it would work.
All I need to know is which accounts viewed the page, and when was their last visit. Any ideas are welcome, so long as they solve the ultimate goal.
