Using php block

Was trying to use the php block simply by using :

include('http://www.sitename.com/sing/external.php')


but its throwing a wobbly with :

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected $end in /home/shellyra/public_html/packages/nd_php_package/blocks/nd_php/view.php(4) : eval()'d code on line 1

anyone come across this before ?
