left side bar and other pages - whats the default?

I understand that if I don't specify a particular page type that the default style is used. . cool okay!
My question is, when pages are first made is there a specific page type that is the default, I mean there isn't a default option to select in the page types when you make a new page. just left sidebar, full and a few others.
