Why does an Add-on disappear from the add-ons that appear when searched on through the Dashboard?

I am curious if there is some logic to this?

When I install an Add-on like the Tableless Form it disappears and is no longer available through the Add-On searching available through the Dashboard.

If I uninstall it...well...it shows up again.

This isn't the first Add-On that this has happened to.

What is the best way to search for the Add-on page now that it has disappeared from the internal Dashboard searching?

I mean I can go to the Concrete5 site and search there or do a Google for the Add-on but...well...that's a bit of a pain. Is there some easier way?

Carlos

Hi Carlos,

Add-ons you've purchased but not yet installed (and add-ons you've uninstalled) will appear at Dashboard > Add Functionality under Ready to Download or Downloaded and Ready to Install.

All your installed add-ons are listed under Dashboard > Add Functionality > Currently Installed.

I hope this helps answer your question.

Thanks for the input Matt but...well...I was asking more why such Add-ons disappear from the internal Admin interface Add-on search when I install one.

Not where one might find the one's installed or purchased.

I've resorted to just going out and Googling for the Add-on whose project page I want to go to rather than trying to find it from inside the admin interface. Which is kind of a silly thing to have to do but it works.

The problem with going to the installed one's or where they are listed is that their project page (from what I remember) is not listed or easily accessible from there. I've often wanted to go look at the project description/page again before completing the install.

I just don't think it should disappear from the internal search listing. I just don't see the logic of making it disappear and reappear depending on whether it's installed or not.

It'd be like Google making whatever program you have installed on your computer disappear from their search results pages and then making it reappear again after you uninstall said program.

Not a big deal mind you. Just a bit silly I think.

I think I understand this a little better now-- you want to go to the concrete5.org webpage for add-ons already installed, via the search.

I think the search was designed to help people find new stuff to download, but I can definitely see how the search could be useful in the way you describe. We'll be sure to look into that for future releases and see if there's any easy way to allow that sort of functionality.

Not exactly Matt but close.

Suffice it to say that search from inside Concrete5 should operate...well...like Google in a sense.

Google does not cause things searched for and installed to then disappear from the search result pages on further pages. That's just confusing.

What is searched for remains whether one downloads and installs a program searched for or not.

Concrete5 should, in my opinion, operate the same way. Something searched for and installed should not, presto, disappear from further search results just because it was installed. That's confusing as in where did that Add-on go that I just searched for and found?

What I was actually doing was trying to get back to the Add-on project page so that I could review the instructions and purposes of the Add-on again but regardless of what I was doing, things installed should not disappear and then reappear based on my installing them.

You want consistentcy in the user interface.

My opinion.

Take it for what it's worth.
