Yet Another MAMP situation
Permalink
I've been interested in all the threads that relate to doing local development with C5 using MAMP. They all seem to follow the same path of installing C5 within the /htdocs folder as well as setting some password options. All this before even getting started creating a site.
My question is a bit of the converse: I've already installed C5 on my remote host and have been creating the bare beginnings of a site. Is it possible to migrate the remotely-hosted site and C5 to my local folder or do I install C5 locally and then move something from the remote to the local folder? Is there a mySQL database involved? (I ask only to be sure I have everything. I know how to copy a DB from a remote site to my local host and back again.)
There are two reasons for wanting to do this: I can do site work while riding the train between Chi & SF (no WiFi yet) and I also would like to give presentations using a projector but many venues don't have WiFi.
Thanks for any helpful advice,
