Your own blocks in the marketplace
Permalink
Is it just me? Am I missing something? As the author of several add-ons I'd like to be able to download my own add-ons from the marketplace without having to pay for them first. Is there a way to do this? I think a person's own add-ons should automatically appear in the "Ready to Download" area of the Add Functionality page.
I agree... however there is currently nothing to stop you downloading your own addons... it's just a little more awkward than it needs to be.
goto edit your addon then manage files and you can download from there...

i was wondering about that....
would be nice to give copies to clients (like so it gets auto updated via C5)

That's a good point about giving copies to clients. If this worked you could log in to the marketplace as yourself, download blocks, and then the site should have permanent access to updates. Similarly, if you were buds with somebody they could give you access to their site, you could temporarily log in and do the same thing.
Jimbo, the point isn't so much about downloading the files - I already have the files. It's about easy installation and easy updates.

How would this even work? The site is what's connected to the marketplace, not your user account. There's no more concept of a "user" logging in through a site (as there was in 5.3.3 and earlier).
could link it to the developers account, like we could login and add to a list of urls of our sites. Then, when the site logs in, the market place then could check for a developer with the same url in their list and load in that developers available add-ons. Could also add a section in our accounts where we can get a developers key/hash which we would set in our sites config file. so if the market place can validate both the url and key it gives the site access to the add-ons.
If this feature were to be created then it should be something that us the add-on developers would have to pay a one time fee for.

I don't know exactly how it works in 5.4 but you do still need to log in with a user account. Regardless, surely there must be a way to do this. jelthure's suggestion seems like a good one, although I don't see the need for a one time fee...
Hi!
I think you can't avoid a bilateral connection of user-accounts with sites in the long term.
Also user created groups, so called "Teams" that aren't neccesarily tied to a site would make sense imho.
This way a community user would be able to add/remove users from his/her account to create "Teams". Teams can be user in terms of a social network or they can be used to submit an adddon as a Team. Teams make sense for complex addons, where support woulnd't work as a single developer.
I think Remo and others would benefit from it. To respect the Karma, it would be nessecary to add roles into groups. Which get different Karma ratings.
Like in example: Translator, Supporter, Core Developer, Tester, Designer..

Wow.. okay lots of good ideas - you'll be happy to know we're planning, having much of them.
1) There should be gift licenses and as a add-on/theme owner you should be able to grant them to any user, or project page of which you're on the administration team.
2) The administration team on project pages needs a bit more love.. removing people... etc.. not a lot, just some.
3) There will joins between account types on concrete5.org at some point in the future. We already have a seemingly useless option for company vs. individual accounts in your profile today. In the big picture we need user accounts to be joined in ways they can provide support to clients through concrete5.org
4) You already have your own files, chill out and use the packages directory for install as we continue to get concrete5.org sexy this summer.
5) It's really warm here. Weather said it would rain. WTF.
