1and1 isn't always a good decision

I've hosted my site for quite a while on a shared host (linux) and experienced several problems. So if your site is expecting to be more than 1000 different pages large, and uses many images...don't choose 1and1. Even the "business" hosting packet isn't worth what its name claims to be.
