2 domains unintentionally point to same website
Permalink
Hello,
I am new to C5, and to making websites in general. I have hosting with ipage, and have a few domains on that account. The domains are all supposed to be for completely separate websites. I recently set up 2 of those domains with C5, and it said the installation was successful. However, the 2 different domains are feeding into the same page when I type it into my browser. http://www.smaupin.com works properly, but when I type inhttp://www.scotmaupin.com into the url bar, it automatically changes into "smaupin" (the other website) and redirects to thehttp://www.smaupin.com website.
The 2 domains are feeding into the same website, but I want them to be 2 separate, independent websites.
Does this have to do with them being on the same host, with the same IP address? iPage has unlimited domains, but I'm not positive that means you can have unlimited websites as well.
Did I need to do something else when I went into the domain accounts to direct the domains to my ipage server?
Does it have anything to do with my nameservers?
Thank you so much for your help, in advance.

Hi again,
I looked at your two links, after I entered the last reply, and it looks like it is working fine now. Is that the case for you? If not, I'm guessing it's a propagation issue.

Hi everyone,
Thanks for your replies, I talked with ipage and they told me I needed to have an additional folder for each domain, and to install concrete 5 in separate folders and then point the domain to its respective folder. So after lots of trial and error and figuring out what all of that meant, it works! Just got back from celebrating this major victory.
Thanks for your help, it's great to know how knowledgeable and helpful everyone here is.

Hey there, so i came across your question because i am having the same exact issue. did you create a new folder in you FileManager and if so, was it within the "root" folder? and where did you point your domains from, in the domain central towards a subdomain? it is so easy to get caught up in the nitty gritty! would appreciate any help, thanks.
I'd give iPage a call. I don't think this is a Concrete5 issue, but rather a domain setup issue. Your nameservers will be the same for both domains. You will want to ask them to look at how you have your domains setup so they are pointing to separate folders off your account root. Also, depending on when you setup your domains, maybe the one going to the wrong place hasn't fully propagated yet? It can take up to 48-72 hours.
The only other thing I can think of is to check your \config\site.php file in your Concrete5 setup. Is the BASE_URL setting set to your correct domain's url?
