5.6 Login Destination
Permalink 1 user found helpful
I have the login destination set to the home page, but after logging in, it's taking me back to the login page, as signed in.
I noticed url goes from:
/index.php/login
to url after login:
I then tried logging in at /login and it successfully logged me in and sent me to /login/...
Any ideas?

I'm logged in as admin and go to Login Destination in the Dashboard, select "Home". It doesn't go home. I get the same results even when I set it to "Member's profile page", etc.
I've also experienced the login destination not working when specified in the dashboard. I haven't looked in to it enough yet, but I believe that mine is not redirecting to my selected login page because I'm using the login block, and I think there is a line of code that tells it to return to same page that I logged in from. So the block is over-riding what ever you put in the dashboard. Those are my thoughts... I haven't really investigated it yet.
Thanks for the added info. I'm also waiting for a few moments to dive deeper into this issue to see if I can figure it out on my own. I'm not using a login block, but do have the settings pointing to my theme for the core pages like login.
Please reply back if you find out more before I do. Thanks.

This is old, but i found the topic looking for the same issue but with v5.6.1.2
Sometimes the page permissions dont propagate correctly across the site when updating a site to a new version.
1. Try going to the Site map and click on Options, check Show system pages check box
2. Click on Login page and select Page permissions. Make sure that Who can view this page? has Guest selected.
That solved the problem for me.
You might also want to select Full page caching and select do not cache this page in case that doesnt work because its cached.
