5.6 Version Compare missing - htmldiff.py?

I'm doing a customer demo in a couple of hours and just noticed that the "Compare Versions" took a major step backwards in 5.6. The cool red/green-deleted/inserted display is gone and it only shows completed pages.

I dug into it and libraries/3rdparty/htmldiff.py isn't in the 5.6 distribution.

Was that on purpose?
Did I mis-install?

Is there a way to get the feature back?

Steve

I can't recall the exact reason, but htmldiff.py has been deprecated (probably because it's outdated and doesn't play well). Your installation is probably as it should be.

EDIT:
This is from the release notes of 5.6
Removed HTML diff python library (since it didn’t work very well). Replaced
with tab-based compare that lets you compare more than two versions.

It was also mentioned in a Totally Random show explaining it further, but I can't remember which one.

Thanks for the search adajad. I didn't find that tidbit.

That's really too bad, because the 5.6 solution isn't really a compare. It's more of a display. They are not even side-by-side - it flips screens. Really hard for a reviewer to spot the difference.

Maybe there's an addon opportunity?
