Add-on not appearing in Block List
Permalink
New to website. Very limited experience. Have been installing and uninstalling addon, cleared cache, its in list on project page but not on block list when in editing mode.. contacted seller who suggests I put this out to community. It is a freebie. Then today by chance one of the free addons did appear in the block list. The other two addons I have been trying to install still have not worked out.
I have Concrete 5.5.2.1 installed.
This type of problem also appeared in a thread in July 2011 see:http://www.concrete5.org/community/forums/installation/add-on-block...
The advice to this person was from mickroberts about replacing symbols, magic quotes and Andrew on backported fix and johnhjuh on replacing permissions to 777.
Are these answers in this thread still valid in Concrete 5.5.2.1? Or is there a one-stop fix that will sort this out? Tried looking in logs and nothing there and tried a search on Just Host and not sure what to change? Thanks in advance

What are the addons you are having problems with?
Some old addons are not compatible with v5.5+
Some old addons are not compatible with v5.5+
The add-on I am having problems with is the Automatic Email Obfuscator and the other one was Honeypot.
I don't think either of those actually create blocks. They work on the page or site as a whole. There may be dashboard pages if they need configuration.
Ok found out that the addons did make it to my webhost directory and therefore appear to be installed. Have not altered codes. Thxks for advice not to mess with 777...
I have re-read the advice from seller and you are right. You install it and it works like "magic" .. it does not have to appear anywhere on the site. When you don't want it you uninstall it. I guess when I read it first time my mind and eyes must have skipped over words magic and I now accept it doesn't have to be visibly on the site for it to be active.

Also have a look at the database with phpMyAdmin for tables with a name something like bt_addon-block-handle
If the folder exists and the table exists, then I doubt if there is anything wrong with permissions. 777 is a dangerous permission because there is no security on it. It lets anyone on the server do anything with that folder.
