Admin can't log in after move

This sounds like other posts, but I've read through, and I don't believe it is.
I moved my C5 site out of a subfolder, and it functioned perfectly. I logged in fine.
Then I added a lot of redirects to send folks from old URLs in a Drupal site on the same server to the new C5 URLs.
After that, I could not log in as admin. It gave an invalid password error. HOWEVER, if I enter the admin email address in the forgot password field, I click the link in the email, and reset the admin password, and I'm in.
But if I log out, I can't log in again, without resetting the password.
I removed the 301 redirects, and checked htaccess. No luck. I'm stumped.
