'Unable to Connect to Database' GoDaddy Installation
Permalink
Hello,
I have been having a number of problems reconfiguring my employer's website to use Concrete5. Regrettably, they are using GoDaddy as their host.
When I started with the site, they were on a Windows Shared plan, but I had that changed to a Linux Shared plan. Then I had the php version changed to 5.X.
I have setup a database for Concrete5, and I believe I have the right address, name and password for the database, as provided by GoDaddy's hosting control center.
When I enter that information into the installation page for Concrete5, it gives me an 'Unable to Connect to Database' error.
Suggestions? Recommendations? Somebody please help!
Side note: I initially setup the site using a local XAMPP installation. Everything worked wonderfully there.

I should have replied earlier to my own post.
After going through my options and triple checking my login credentials, I called GoDaddy to verify I was indeed reading the correct information.
I was reading it correctly, but there was another problem:
Even though the change from Windows to Linux hosting had been done several days ago, it turns out that they had not fully moved over all of my data.
Their techs told me that it should be fixed in the next day or so once they get all the data moved over.
However, I will repost here if it does not, in fact, fix the problem.
Also, to put your mind at ease on the login credentials, I was able to login to the database using GoDaddy's modified phpmyadmin, although I could not login via my shared hosting.

it can be that the user you entered has no rights on the database or that you use a wrong host.
I suggest you double check all info and make sure the user has the right permissions on the database and then try the install again.
