Blank page after copying files to Server

Sorry for this basic question, but I tried most what I could find in the forums and nothing seems to help.
Downloaded the installer of concrete5 v8
unzipped
moved the concrete5 files to a subdirectory on my webhost
direct the browser to myweb/subdirectory
the URL changes tohttp://www.myweb/subdirectory/index.php/install...
But nothing happens, empty page.
In a different sub I have another concrete5 installation running which works fine. So it can not be a basic webhost issue.
any clues?

Did you check your PHP Error Logs on the server to see if there is an error there?
The error logs did not Report anyting.
I ended up just copying the files to the Server again and it worked.
Must have been some file missing or some other error I made.
