Blank screen
Permalink
I had an active installation of Concrete5.7.3. When I tried to update it to 5.7.3.1, I got a blank screen after updating. I decided I had done something wrong in the updating, so have attempted a clean reinstall. Deleted old database and created a new one. After deleting all Concrete5 files from my server and then uploading 5.7.3.1, I put my url into the url address bar (dawntodusk.net.au) expecting the standard Concrete5 installation screen to open. Nothing. Still a blank screen.
The server is running PHP 5.5.2, so that is not the problem.
I did read somewhere that Concrete5 requires a capitalized database name, and my database name is db1108268_dawndusk. However, that is the same database name that was used in the previous instal, and then it worked fine.
Any thoughts.
P.S. I'm going to be away for the next five days, so I won't be able to engage in discussion during that time. But I look forward to a few ideas waiting for me when I get back. Thanks.

Now I don't know what is going on. I just tried again, and, instead of a blank screen, got the error message "Error occurred: 403 - forbidden". Please just ignore this while I do some more investigating. I think my server is messing around with my file structure as I lodged a help request with them.
O.K. Am I the only person who has tried to upgrade to 5.7.3.1? Maybe I'm losing it, but it seems to me that it is missing some files. I have downloaded it twice from Cr5 home page, and I now discover that, upon being unzipped, it is missing files — at least compared with 5.7.3. I haven't done an exhaustive check, but I find that, for example, application/config is empty — no "database.php" file. So too is application/files, whereas both these folders in 5.7.3 have content. Will work on it more when I return.
