C5 Panel not recognizing option for new version.

When I "Check for Update" using C5, console indicates "no updates available".
I originally installed C5 using SimpleScripts provided by HostMonster. SimpleScripts recognizes that there is an update available, but when I attempt to upgrade using this method C5 continues to run version 5.5.2.1 even though SimpleScripts indicates the upgrade was successful.
Im not sure these two issues are related, but in short it doesnt appear I am able to use any automated method for upgrading. Any ideas? Specifically any ideas why C5 console wouldnt recognize that there is a new version available.
Thanks for any help you can provide.

Thanks Job. I guess I was assuming too much.
Any idea why the SimpleScripts install would not work? I know this question may be a little too specific. Just wondering if I should avoid upgrading in this manner in the future.

I can't comment I'm afraid having not ever used Simple Scripts.
Manually upgrading isn't too hard if you're desperate for the upgrade, replacing a few files and then running the installer script.
Take a look here:http://www.concrete5.org/documentation/how-tos/developers/manually-...
Remember to test everything in a test area before updating production sites.

C5.6 isn't actually on the auto-updater yet (that's whats within the C5 Control Panel).
If you want to upgrade you'll need to do it manually, otherwise wait another few days. The last we heard, it was in the pipeline by the guys at C5.
If this helps be sure to mark it as an answer!
