cannot connect to database

The finish line is in sight...however, unable to connect to database...clues and/or solutions?

how did you resolve this? I have the same problem. I can log into my database server with all the same information I supply on the installation page, however it still says unable to connect.

I also have the same issue. I used the one-click install from Dreamhost and let it create the database. It looks like the user has all the correct permissions.

Please share how you resolved it. Did you have to contact the host or were you able to fix it yourself? Thanks!

Figured mine out. Problem was caused by copying the server name by right-clicking the link in my email. This made http:// also paste into the server field, which doesn't work. So highlight and copy, or just delete http:// from the beginning of the server address.
