Cant login into Contete5 through Internet Explorer 8
Permalink
Hey there
I have a problem with the Internet Explorer.
I have 2 pages which are restricted and just visible for logged in users.
And if i login with a user trough Internet Explorer it doesnt gave me an error or something it just redirects me to the Home of the Page.
If i login with my admin i cant see the Navigation with Dashboard. If I use any other Browser it works. And on my other Concrete5 Page the IExplorer also works.
Have a look:http://www.jufa.li -> works fine
http://www.sapperlott.ch -> doesnt work with IExplorer
Thanks for reading and i hope to have a solution as soon as possible! Thank you!!
Regards Roger

Nobody has a idea?
Maybe you can add some screenshot.
You mention that the problem exists after logging in, seein on how no one on this forum can login on your sites we can't really judge it..
when I openhttp://www.sapperlott.ch in IE8 it works fine.
if the users can't see those 2 pages after login in then you most likely have the permissions on those pages wrong so I suggest you check those.

Hey there
Yeah its difficult to add a Screenshot because you even don't see anything.
So i attached a screenshot after i logged in with my Admin Account one time in IE and one time in google Chrome
Google Chrome works fine you see the edit, add and dashboard and sign out buttons you can see the Site Mitglieder and Downloads.
In the IE8 you cant see any of the buttons and any of the pages!
Please Help

From the screen grabs looks like Chrome will log you in, and IE won't. Might be worth checking IE security settings.
I am guessing but .... high security settings will disable javascript and cookies. Either being disabled could cause login problems for any online app.
Can't say if this applies to C5, but worth checking.

Hey
Thank you for your message. But I think this is not a local Computer System because I tried it on several other PC's and on everyone it doesn't work.
So as far as I am concerned I would say this is a problem on the server side. Perhaps Concrete5 or any other problem on the server.

Hi I had the same problem, now fixed:
In IE under Tools->Internet Options->Privacy Settings
Set the slider to Medium High rather than high so that the cookies are not blocked.

Hey thank you this worked but I had to slide the slider to Accept all cookies. Is there an option to make this cookies less aggressive to IE?
But now it works thank you. Maybe there is a fix for that problem that you dont have to edit the Privacy options.

Another weird thing I found in C5 is that the browser cache (at least in FireFox) seems to need to be deleted every once in a while, I don't know if this is related, but maybe?
I'm wanting to know if there is an alternate fix to this? I have a group of people who need to login, and unfortunately, it's with IE. They don't have permissions to change the security settings (nor the know-how.
I have a site or two that work, and two that don't. I'm not sure what the difference is. They are on the same server, same version number.
Any ideas?

You could compare the differences between cookies of your sites using the "internet explorer developer tools" which you can download and install for use with Internet Explorer. Then when you hit the F12 key you can examine the cookies under cache->View cookie information.
If your users are prevented from making changes to their security settings, then I don't think there is a fix unless they are able to use another browser such as Google Chrome or FireFox etc.
If they need to learn how to adjust the privacy settings, then there should be plenty of tutorial videos floating around the web.

Looks like upgrading to 5.4.2.2 solved my problem.
It's good that you solved your problem with a simple upgrade to the software.
