can't seem to download 5.5.1?

I'm a relative newbie to concrete5, so if this is a silly question, ah well.
I'm currently running 5.4.2.2, and I see there's an update to 5.5.1 available. So I try to download it using the button at the bottom of the /dashboard/system/update/ page, and I get an internal server error 500. I changed the permissions on the 'updates' folder on my server, but still the error. Any ideas what's going on?

I have the same situation, but instead of the Internal 500 error, I get a blank screen with simply '0' in the top left. Attempting the manual upgrade now, but getting the "Your site is already up to date" error when running the upgrade script.
I have the same problem.
I hit the DOWNLOAD button in my DASHBOARD and the browser goes to a blank screen.
I am trying to go from 5.4.2.2 to the next available upgrade.
